Job summary Main Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will have clear and effective communication skills with a professional and courteous manner when dealing with patients, members of the public and other theatre and hospital staff and observe the Trusts code of confidentiality Scope and Accountability Work closely with the Theatre teams and liaising with Band 6/Team leader of each theatre; To liaise when required with theatres and ward staff; Liaise when required with CSSD and other ancillary departments.
Direct Patient Care Support ambulatory day of admission patients from admission suites to anaesthetic room; Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their family members during the transfer to theatre; Remain with patients in the anaesthetic room until relieved by anaesthetic assistant; Transport patients from theatres to recovery; Transport patients from recovery back the ward; Communicate in a manner and pace appropriate to the patient's ability, personal beliefs and preferences within Trust and legal constraints.
Main duties of the job Indirect Patient Care Support, welcome and assist visitors to the ward area;Liaise with other professionals as required within the boundaries of the role;To undertake domestic duties as required cleaning floors in theatres, moving clinical waste and sharps bins, as required and in line with current Infection control guidelines;Assist with stocking of unit - sterile supplies and pharmacy;Assist in stocking theatre hats, blue slide sheets, oxygen masks and oxygen tubing;Emptying sterile instruments and putting away in appropriate storage place;Assist the materials management team in storing stock;Assist with the storing of IV fluid stock when delivered by pharmacy;Transport soiled instruments and clinical waste to designated collection points;Participate in the orientation and support of new portering staff;Handle and transport specimens, in line with Trust Policy;Report damaged equipment to the appropriate person;To observe health and safety regulations at all times.
