Senior Management Accountant - Bury St Edmunds (Hybrid) - ARD1068776Purpose of the RoleThis exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Financial Reporting Team reporting to the Finance Manager.
You will lead a team of Management Accountants to prepare monthly management accounts, consisting of the profit and loss and balance sheets, in addition to the preparation of information for statutory accounts, audits and forecasting in line with the Group financial control framework and Group reporting timetable.What you will doThis is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.
Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives with a focus on the following:Line management responsibility for Management Accountants within the Financial Reporting Team.Support the preparation of and review monthly management accounts including the profit and loss account, balance sheet and supporting commentary.Support the preparation of and review monthly KPIs which support and compliment the management accounts.Understand and validate the profit and loss account, resolve queries from stakeholders and work with the Finance Business Partners and Finance Directors to analyse variances in both revenue and expenditures vs budget, forecasts and prior year actuals.Liaise with other finance departments within the Group to ensure accuracy of the management accounts.Monthly preparation of balance sheet reconciliations with supporting commentary for review by the Finance Manager.Review of balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Management Accountants.Posting journal entries and reviewing and approving journal entries made by the Management Accountants.Preparation of year-end audit files and liaison with external auditors.Reconciliation of intercompany balances on a monthly basis and resolve any variances.Support the annual budget process and forecasting on both a profit & loss and cash basis.Fulfil your responsibilities in line with agreed processes to achieve agreed objectives and in doing so ensure compliance with the client and insurer money rules within the FCA HandbookWho we are looking forWe are looking for someone who has/is:Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBELeadership or team management experienceExperience of IFRS, CASS, UK GAAPAdvanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly ExcelA high level of expertise in analysing data leading to the close of business results in agreed reporting periodsThis is an opportunity for someone with a broad range of experience in general accounting functions, including business and financial reporting, with strong financial controls knowledge who works well under pressure and is able to effectively lead a team.You will need to be a self-motivated, proactive and organised individual with strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate effectively across all mediums.
You will need to have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable and embrace and respond to changes positively.With strong analytical and investigative skills, applying logical reasoning and problem solving you will work individually as well as collaboratively and flexibly to meet business needs.
