As Sephora UK's inaugural legal hire and sole legal counsel, you will play a crucial role in guiding Sephora's legal strategy across the UK and Channel Islands, ensuring we operate with integrity and compliance.
Reporting to the CFO, with a dotted line to our Global General Counsel in France, you will provide strategic legal counsel and support across a range of business functions.
This is a unique opportunity to shape Sephora's legal frameworks in the region, enhance operational efficiency, and be a trusted partner to our teams on all legal matters.
You will take ownership for all things legal, including:   Legal Counsel and Commercial Agreements Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including those related to distribution, logistics, transport, leases, IT, and other service contracts.
Improving documentation processes and developing legal templates that align with Sephora's global standards, ensuring they meet the specific needs of UK business stakeholders.
Advising on intellectual property and licensing matters.
Advising and managing any other ad hoc legal matters e.g.
litigation, property etc.
Business Partnership and Compliance Providing clear legal advice and risk analysis to a range of business teams (marketing, communication, merchandising, expansion, digital, IT), supporting them in making informed decisions.
Implementing Sephora's data privacy compliance roadmap, advising stakeholders on data privacy standards and best practices.
Ethics, Compliance, and Litigation Management Acting as the local Ethics & Compliance correspondent, working to deploy Sephora's Ethics & Compliance roadmap and ensuring alignment with local regulations.
Overseeing corporate secretary activities, managing pre-litigations and litigations, and driving positive outcomes through proactive legal strategies.
Stakeholder Management, Communication and Training Monitoring new regulations, fostering legal awareness among teams, and conducting training as required to ensure alignment with Sephora's ethical standards and regulatory obligations.
Regularly engaging with business stakeholders to resolve challenges with a client-centric approach.
Management of external lawyers.
What You'll Bring   You'll be a crucial part of Sephora's success in the UK, using your expertise to drive practical legal solutions and strategic insights.
Your ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders and manage multiple complex projects will ensure Sephora's continued compliance and growth.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess:   A degree in business law, with  8 years of relevant experience, ideally within omni retail or the luxury sector.
Strong knowledge of UK regulations, especially data privacy, competition laws, marketing practices, sustainability, and lease agreements.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to assess legal risks and propose commercially viable solutions.
Commercial acumen and enjoys working in a fast paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating clear, concise guidance.
A proactive, organized approach and strong collaboration skills.
A commitment to ethical standards and integrity in all actions.
