We are a busy, friendly team who are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse, Midwife or Health Professional who can demonstrate not only a passion for safeguarding vulnerable children and families but also be prepared to provide safeguarding supervision, support and training to all practitioners within the Trust. The role involves inter-agency working with the Local Authority and Police, and the applicant would need to evidence a commitment to working in a challenging environment.
Main duties of the job You will have a key role in promoting good professional practice within EKHUFT and provide elements of the safeguarding children training strategy and safeguarding supervision.
You will support the Associate Director of Safeguarding Children in providing advice and support regarding all elements of safeguarding children within the Trust and across organisational boundaries.
You will need to have highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to handle difficult and complex situations with tact and diplomacy.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse (Child), Or Midwife Or RN with experience of caring for children and young people and having completed a programme of education with a child/family focus. Or a recognised AHP qualification and associated HPCP registration with a minimum of 3 years' experience working in Paediatrics. Evidence of personal and professional development related to role Experience and Clinical Skills Essential Minimum 3 years post registration experience at at least band 6, working with babies, children or young people and their families. Current Health Service priorities - Clinical Governance Health and Safety. High level of IT skills including Microsoft word, excel, power point, emails and demonstrate good keyboard skills. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy and ability to professionally challenge. Ability to prioritise workload and cope under pressure in order to meet deadlines. Able to drive and have use of a car for work purposes. Desirable Experience of working with partner agencies in relation to safeguarding children. Experience of managing caseloads that contain vulnerable children, children in need and children in need of protection. Experience of developing and delivering training or other training provision experience. Experience of safeguarding supervision. Influencing and negotiating skills, coaching and facilitating skills. Experience of using databases and other IT/electronic systems. Ability to undertake analytical decision making in complex safeguarding cases. Experience with organising/chairing or attending multiagency/health meetings. Knowledge Essential Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation and guidance, National Service Framework targets Knowledge of Children Act 1989 and 2004, the UN convention on Rights for the Child and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023. Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures and issues relating to vulnerable children and children in need. Knowledge of application of the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice. Knowledge of the services which support children and their families. Knowledge of children's health and development across the age spectrum and an understanding of the impact of reduced parenting upon children.
