This role requires delivery of legal advice to Mace develop on new and legacy development projects.
Delivers the business strategy for the develop function, providing advice and solutions as required.You'll be responsible for: Providing timely advice on live issues on Mace develop projects including claims, disputes, insurance matters, funding, acquisitions, disposals, construction, interactions with commercial and residential occupiers, joint venture arrangements, development management agreements.
Providing comprehensive advice on arising issues, insured risks and commercial queries.
Developing & maintaining a series of both internal and external relationships.
Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You'll need to have: Understanding of legal development issues on residential and commercial development opportunities and live assets, including local authority joint ventures.
Good working knowledge of and management of claims and insurance process.
Real estate lawyer or client-side construction lawyer.
Qualified in England & Wales.
Experience with contentious arising issues, commercial matters, disputes and claims avoidance.
Able to manage external legal advisers to work within timelines and budgets, monitor and manage legal spend efficiently alongside budget holders.
Communicates complex ideas/technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Manages, influences and negotiates with key internal stakeholders (up to board level).
Astute commercial awareness, understanding how the real estate and built environment industries work, revenues and margins, risks, etc.
Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
Adept at managing multiple priorities and stakeholders and solves complex problems utilising legal expertise.
Recommends solutions to legal issues to senior stakeholders.
You'll also have: Conversant with industry forms of construction contract particularly joint contracts tribunal (JCT).
Prior experience advising on residential schemes including working knowledge of estate management companies.
Familiarity with regulatory environment e.g.
around health and safety, building safety act, public procurement etc.
Horizon scanning, anticipates and shows appreciation of how new legislation comes into force, and current legal trends providing legal expertise for portfolio.
Ability to understand complex legal information and concepts and able to articulate to others including a range of stakeholders.
Champions a data led approach to risk.
