Control Engineer - IDNO Essex Salary dependent on experience This role focuses on overseeing daily operations related to the construction, control, and stable supply of electricity distribution networks.
A key aspect is ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards, utility guidelines, and safety regulations.
You'll build and maintain strong connections with DNO and IDNO partners, as well as internal teams and subcontractors, to ensure high-quality construction and service, while conducting competency reviews to support safe practices.
Perhaps you have experience working on low and high voltage systems as an authorised or senior authorised person, or maybe you have worked as a control engineer on the electricity network.
Core Responsibilities: Review and authorise switching schedules across voltage levels from LV to EHV.
Review and submit requests for supply interruptions to asset adoption partners.
Assist the assessing officer in assigning authorised personnel.
Conduct on-site evaluations of staff, including trainees.
Perform SAP responsibilities in line with Distribution Safety Rules when necessary.
Lead incident investigations and perform root cause analysis as needed.
Offer technical guidance to both field and office-based staff.
Collaborate with Operations team members and foster connections with other departments.
Contribute to procedure development, challenging current practices, and pursuing continuous improvement.
Experience, knowledge and skills: Significant experience in electricity distribution, ideally with a DNO, with authorisation to handle network safety switching.
Familiarity with delivering, installing, operating, maintaining, and managing electricity distribution networks of at least 33kV, and preferably at higher voltages.
Familiarity with regulatory and HSE frameworks.
Awareness of industry guidelines, recommendations, technical standards, and laws related to building and operating power distribution networks.
Understanding of the processes involved in planning, building, and running electricity distribution systems.
Knowledge of distribution safety rules and associated regulatory documentation.
Experience with protocols for managing low and high voltage network operations.
Understanding of the NERS accreditation scheme.
