We're currently looking for a Policy Manager on a full time, permanent basis.
This position sits within the Policy Development team.
The role holder would ideally be based in the UK.
The Job Reporting to the Regional Lead Policy and Insights, EEMA & UK on a day-to-day basis, you'll be involved in the following: This role requires a reasonable understanding and or experience of stakeholder management, the accounting sector, policy content creation and drafting skills and project management.
Individual delivery of policy content such as consultation responses and policy papers.
Producing deliverables that add value to ACCA's market recognitions, brand and influence.
Working collaboratively with the senior policy manager; supporting the Regional Lead - EEMA & UK in delivering regional priorities.
Supporting the EEMA & UK Policy Development Team in creating EEMA & UK focused thought leadership content, carrying out drafting, research and engagement.
Act as a bridge between the Global P&I team and the UK & EEMA Relationships teams (who are responsible for the delivery of ACCA strategy in countries across the region).
Supporting EEMA & UK inputs into global thought leadership creation, e.g.
roundtables, working with regional stakeholders to promote surveys etc.
Delivering presentations and speaking at events on both global and EEMA & UK specific policy and thought leadership content.
Conduct and/or analyse findings from [a] surveys [b] roundtables [c] structured interviews Input to the design, development, maintenance, and effective dissemination of ACCA Global Policy Positions in chosen topic areas.
Management of timelines, milestones and budgets for reports and projects that one is leading.
Gathering intelligence on thought leadership/research and policy to identify opportunities and risks for ACCA through a regional network of internal (e.g.
Public Affairs), and external advocates and experts who can contribute insights.
The Person We're looking for someone with: Strong stakeholder management skills: this is key to the role and includes the ability to understand needs of markets, members, government officials and wider stakeholders.
It requires one to be flexible where possible, manage expectations where needed and have the ability to explain point-of-view, influence effectively and to build trust both internally and externally.
Ability to share and present reports on a variety of subjects with confidence and clarity to engage and energise audience at all levels.
Excellent communication skills: able to help people understand what is required, the key issues, and what the way forward needs to be; ability to explain to internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise and constructive/helpful way on what one is seeking to do.
Capable of operating at fast pace within a high-performing team; able to handle multiple tasks at same time, manage expectations and prioritise effectively.
Ability to write thought leadership and policy content on topical issues.
Strong team player skills: taking responsibility and providing support and guidance where needed; being transparent and collaborative and taking initiative.
Commitment to a professional and high-quality outputs.
Ability to quickly understand relevant aspects within likely areas of focus such as skills/education, sustainability, reporting, audit, tax, risk/controls and AI.
Ability and desire to deepen knowledge in a specific area based on the individuals' own experience and expertise.
Strategic thinking: understanding the overall goals of ACCA and Global P&I team and relating this to the EEMA & UK team requirements and be able to undertake consistent horizon scanning to identify to what upcoming trends/pieces of work may impact the team.
Project management and planning skills: maintain a clear view of activities, workplan, timelines, milestones, budgets, key dependencies and risks, and proactively manage, communicate/escalate issues as and when needed.
A reasonable understanding of the accountancy sector and of issues impacting on the accountancy profession globally, and across EEMA & UK, with an emphasis on the UK.
An ability to respond to policy and research issues relevant to the accountancy profession within EEMA & the UK.
Professionally qualified accountant preferred but not mandatory Experience or knowledge in any of the following across the UK and/or EEMA preferred but not mandatory: taxation, financial services, risk, audit/assurance/corporate reporting.
Experience of working in a global organisation with cross-cultural understanding is preferred.
