The role Policy Manager with Smart DCC London or Manchester Competitive Salary plus benefitsRoleWorking across the Strategy and Policy team, the Policy Manager will enhance DCCs credibility by ensuring that DCC has a considered policy position on current and emerging topics which are relevant to DCC and the wider energy market, including fuel poverty, energy efficiency and system flexibility.
This policy expertise will provide a foundation upon which DCC can make informed choices about its business strategy and medium-term plans, as well as supporting effective engagement with key external stakeholders.
The Policy Manager will work with teams across the business, eliciting from them the detailed know-how which will inform our policy stances, but also supporting them in defining and articulating a coherent position which can be shared confidently outside of DCC.What you will be doing?· Lead and own specific areas of current and emerging policy, becoming the subject matter expert on these within DCC.
For example, fuel poverty, energy efficiency and system flexibility.· Undertake extensive scanning to create a picture of the evolving policy landscape, including identification of potential avenues for innovation funding to support DCC's development of a policy position in particular areas.· Own and lead reactive responses to consultations and develop proactive thought leadership positions and where appropriate, propositions for those policy areas.· Engage with and build a network of key external stakeholders to build an understanding and awareness of DCC's capabilities specific to agreed policy areas.· Work with colleagues across DCC to share policy intelligence.What are we looking for?· Extensive knowledge of the energy market and current developments therein· Experience of working within or for government (central or local), or a regulated business to develop policy positions.· Excellent research skills and verbal / written communication skills – comfortable in delivering reports, briefings, and presentations up to and including Board level.· Highly collaborative style – able to interact with colleagues at all levels, across the organisation and with external stakeholders.· Well-organised – able to manage a number of tasks in parallel, whilst ensuring that these are completed to time and quality.
