Job Summary Job Description What is the opportunity?
You will be a Paralegal providing dedicated paralegal support to the Litigation and Employment Law team for Europe and APAC, acting as a trusted resource for the team and introducing workflow efficiencies.
The position is a demanding role in a fast-paced environment.
You must have an enterprise mindset and be able to effectively partner within the legal team and with other business and functional partners.
You will report to the Head of Litigation for Europe and APAC.
What will you do?
You will be responsible for: Preparing litigation reports and presentations for internal governance forums and Board/Board-level committees related to the various RBC entities operating in UK, Europe and Asia-Pac.
Updating the status of matters on internal reporting tools, and managing and updating case files.
Assisting with all aspects of document preservation and disclosure, including submitting collection tickets for e-discovery searches and all other matters related to the identification, collection and interrogation of electronic and hard-copy data.
Liaising with external service providers and legal counsel for the export, hosting and review of available data.
Issuing legal holds and responding to legal hold queries.
Undertaking a first level review of data under the supervision of a more senior member of the team.
Keeping attendance notes of interviews and other meetings.
Billing, cost management and monitoring of legal fees, including the review of invoices, analysis and tracking of legal expenses, and overseeing case budget review.
Performing legal research and developing/managing a legal precedent library for the team.
Monitoring new case-law and upcoming legislative or regulatory change/ sharing of know-how.
Streamlining the team's filing system.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have Law Degree.
Paralegal experience supporting a major law firm or in-house litigation department.
Ability to perform responsibly without constant supervision.
Able to effectively partner within the legal team and with other partners.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Highly organised, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Team player, able to work across organizational and geographic boundaries.
Able to learn and apply new information, skills and procedures.
Sound computer skills able to adapt and apply new technologies.
Able to multi-task, undertake tasks within a tight time frame across multiple time zones, legal systems, and coordinate an effective response amongst many business and functional groups.
Nice-to-have Qualified to practice law in England and Wales or other common law jurisdiction.
Minimum of 2+ years of postgraduate experience ideal but not essential.
