Role: Non-Destructive Testing Contract Position Location: Remote, covering the UK UKAS is seeking skilled, independent Technical Assessors with deep knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing processes to join our team and contribute to critical product certification assessments.
A Technical Assessor at UKAS plays a vital role in ensuring that organisations meet national and international competence and quality standards.
UKAS is responsible for accrediting bodies that perform testing, calibration, inspection, and certification.
The role of the technical assessor is to evaluate whether these organisations are conducting their work correctly, consistently, and to the required standards.This is a contract position that can be undertaken independently or as part of your full-time employment with approval from your employer.
About the Role: As a UKAS Technical Assessor, you will play a key role in evaluating NDT inspection and testing activities under ISO 17020 and ISO17025.
You'll assess conformity associated with recognised NDT techniques including Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Phased Array, and Radiography, ensuring compliance across diverse industrial applications.
What We're Looking For: Qualifications : Preferably HNC or equivalent in engineering.
Extensive experience can be a substitute for formal qualifications.
Ideally Level 3 qualification against a recognised personal certification scheme (PCN/ASNT) Knowledge and Skills : Expertise in NDT processes, technical standards, and regulatory requirements; familiar with UKAS accreditation procedures, report writing, and relevant ISO standards.
Experience : Proven in-depth knowledge and experience in NDT processes within engineering, manufacturing, or inspection.
Professional Standing : Membership in relevant professional bodies, such as The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing, is advantageous.
