Piper Maddox are currently working with a hugely exciting renewable energy developer who is looking to build out their in-house capabilities as they move towards transitioning to an IPP model.
With nearly 2GW of current grid connections and a total of over 4GW targeted by the end of the year, it is a time of significant development for the team.
This company is looking to build out an internal legal function, starting with a Legal Counsel who would be responsible for legal property matters related to their development portfolio.
This role would also see you project managing their external lawyers and growing into a General Counsel later down the line.
Your main area of expertise must lie in Real Estate and Property Law as this would be your major focus when stepping into this role.
You would need to be able to work on securing their land for their projects from a legal point of view and understand the documentation around this.
You can come from a private practice law firm or another in-house firm.

Some key information about your role: 3+ years of previous experience inside a multinational company and/or a law firm.
Significant experience in dealing with projects documentation with a strong sense of bankability.
Experience in permitting of energy projects in the UK a plus.
Significant experience in contract review and negotiation.
Strong ability to manage outside counsel/law firms.
Team player and hard-worker, can-do attitude, with good business judgement in providing compliant and business-friendly legal solutions.
Attention to detail is essential.
Background in Real Estate Law is needed as this would be the main focus for the start of the role.
Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess analytical skills necessary for competent legal interpretation.
Experience in the UK renewables industry is a must.
