Legal Counsel

This role is with a global telecommunications company currently in an exciting period of growth.
This role will sit within the commercial legal team and offer transactional support to the business across the UK and Europe while supporting with cross-functional projects and initiatives.
The successful candidate will be involved in RFPs, negotiating customer contracts, and managing in-life contracts, including interpreting terms, making amendments, and providing initial support on disputes.

Key responsibilities: Leading the negotiation of both standard and non-standard sales agreements with minimal supervision and providing internal stakeholders on relevant issues.
Ability to manage multiple matters, including complex transactions, and working with internal stakeholders to close deals.
Utilizing a strategic approach to support new business initiatives, including reviewing and launching new products and services.
Collaboration with other departments ensuring timely closure of transactions in line with company strategy and policies.
Be the 'go to expert' for different products and complex transactions (e.g., joint provisioning arrangements, voice outsourcing).
Providing legal support for various matters, including HR, real estate, procurement, IP, and data protection.
Liaising with external legal counsel when appropriate.
Proactively supporting risk management within the business.
Promoting best practice documentation projects, creating and updating standard templates and acting as the point of contact for cross-functional projects.
Facilitate training for business/sales teams on legal issues concerning commercial agreements or processes.
Conducting legal research and analysis, drafting opinions and position papers, and sharing information within the team.
Skills, qualifications and strengths: England & Wales qualified lawyer, with approximately 5 years PQE as a guideline.
Previous experience in the telecommunications sector and with a multinational organisation.
Exceptional drafting skills with a solid knowledge of contract law and ability to escalate issues to specialist teams/management proactively.
Creative and strategic thinking to support business initiatives.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with other legal team members when needed.
Familiarity with various cultures and legal systems, and the ability to make quick, accurate decisions on complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge or experience of civil law systems.
Additional language skills (in particular French or German).
