Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Admin

Job summary We are looking for a member of staff who has good interpersonal and communication skills who has a keen interest in working with haematology patients.
We are looking for someone to provide an efficient and effective patient-focused administrative service for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team in the Cancer Institute based in BHOC who would act as part of the team in an experienced CNS team covering Myeloma, Lymphoma and Leukaemia.
Main duties of the job To liaise with and act as a point of contact for clinical and non-clinical staff via telephone and emailTo act as a point of contact for patients, relatives and carers for all non-clinical issues.The post holder should be polite and empathetic to the patient's needs at all times and be able to communicate effectively when dealing with difficult situations/conversationsReturning calls promptly and keeping callers updated with information in an effective and efficient wayEscalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.Triage telephone and email enquiries, using a risk assessment framework.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential 5 GCSEs level (or equivalent) including English Language and Maths (E) Or Good standard of general education to include English and Maths GCSE's or equivalent IT skills or qualifications to ECDL/ RSA standard, Word processing RSA III or equivalent experience Willing to undertake further training as necessary Knowledge and Experience Essential Experience of dealing with the public both on the telephone and in public Experience of working proactively as part of a team and on own initiative Administrative experience in a busy, customer focused environment Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Experience of workload prioritisation Desirable NHS experience in administrative and clerical departments/ or similar secretarial Comprehensive knowledge of medical record procedures and hospital information systems Experience of accessing a booking system Experience of patient administration system (PAS) The maintenance of data on a computer system Knowledge of medical terminology Understands the significance of Information Governance Skills and Abilities Essential Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face-to-face and on the phone Fast and accurate typing speed Proven ability to work to appropriate quality standards and meet deadlines Demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills Proven ability to make decisions as well as use own initiative Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work demands Excellent written/ verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information Willingness to learn new systems Committed to own personal development Ability to prioritise ensuring effective and efficient workload completion Excellent organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail Excellent interpersonal skills both face to face and on the phone Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard Good IT Skills Excellent Skills in Microsoft Office applications/databases
