Job Description Themis Recruit are seeking a Cost Lawyer to join our clients central team in London, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.
This full-time role will involve managing a caseload of cost claims and providing expert advice on costs law across the firm's various litigious departments.
You will play a key role in supporting the firm's legal teams with cost-related matters in a diverse range of cases.
Key Responsibilities: Draft Points of Dispute and Replies in response to cost claims.
Assist with the preparation of costs budgets and provide advice on opposing party budgets.
Advise on retainer agreements and fee arrangements between clients and legal advisors.
Prepare and advise on claims for costs, including disputes between solicitors and clients.
Handle your own caseload of cost claims, including negotiating disrepair claims in the Land Tribunal.
Exposure to a wide variety of cost claims across the firm.
Requirements The ideal candidate will have experience in fixed costs and negotiating complex files at a reputable law firm.
You will either have completed the Costs Lawyer course or be planning to do so, with full support from the firm.
You will have: Strong experience in handling cost claims and disputes.
A keen eye for data and the ability to create concise reports and written submissions.
Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in litigation contexts.
An interest in cost forecasting, planning, and budgeting, with the ability to think laterally about contingencies.
