Job summary We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic psychologist who will have a key role in developing and maintaining a psychologically informed approach across the service.
The successful candidate will work across the accommodation service and the community team providing assessments and group and individual psychological and interventions, training, supervision and reflective practice.
Part of the role will be supporting the work of enabling people to return from out of area rehabilitation hospital placements.
Bristol Community Rehabilitation Service includes a multi disciplinary community team and a recovery focused 10 bed rehabilitation accommodation service.
We work with people with complex mental health needs who could benefit from intensive support and therapeutic interventions.
Our service is focused on providing effective interventions to support people in achieving their recovery goals.
The service has a particular focus on supporting the inpatient rehabilitation pathway including people who have been in out of area rehabilitation placements.
The team includes a wide range of skilled and highly motivated staff including Peer Workers, Recovery Navigators, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, a Social Worker, a Consultant Psychiatrist, and Clinical Psychologists.
The service is a partnership between mental health charity Second Step, Avon and Wiltshire NHS Mental Health Partnership Trust (AWP) and women's organisation Missing Link.
Main duties of the job Job PurposeThe post holder will be employed by AWP and contracted to work in the Community Rehabilitation Service provided in partnership with Second Step1.
To provide a clinical/counselling psychology service to the Bristol Community Rehabilitation Service working across the accommodation and community teams.2.
To provide assessment and individual and group interventions to service users and maintain associated records.3.
Provide supervision and consultation to other community rehabilitation team staff.4.
To support the accommodation staff to provide a rehabilitation service within a psychologically and trauma Informed framework.5.
Participate in CPD and other developmental activities.6.
Undertake R & D and clinical audit.

Job description Job responsibilities CLINICALTo provide a psychology service to the community rehabilitation team including assessment and therapy both for individuals and groups as appropriate.To provide a specialist consultancy service to the community rehabilitation service and other agencies providing care for the client group.To participate in team duties as agreed by the Service Manager and Psychology Lead as appropriate, to the needs of the service.To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychology Service.To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.To support the full implementation of ICPA, acting as care-co-ordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service.PROFESSIONAL1.
To fully observe the BPS (1996) Code of Conduct and the DCP Guidelines for theProfessional Practice of Clinical Psychology (1995).2.
To be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and review of Trust, Area and Clinical Psychology Service policies and procedures.3.
To participate in local psychology meetings and trust wide meetings asappropriate.4.
To maintain and develop high standards of psychology practice by engaging in continuing professional development and co-operative working/networking with counselling and clinical psychologist colleagues.5.
To participate in an annual performance appraisal.SERVICE GOVERNANCE1.
To participate in service governance processes in the profession.2.
To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit.3.
To liaise with other disciplines and agencies to ensure that best practice is shared.4.
To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT1.
To provide training, supervision and consultation in psychological approaches to other staff in the multidisciplinary team.
This to include joint assessment with care coordinators, formulation of psychological problems and planning of interventions to be implemented by care co-ordinators or other team members with service users.2.
To provide training and supervision to assistant psychologists undertaking behavioural interventions and other appropriate tasks.3.
To collaborate with colleagues to develop and offer training courses, workshops and supervision groups to develop skills in cognitive behaviour therapy and related approaches for staff in the locality.4.
To contribute to the teaching of students and trainees in psychology, medicine, nursing and other health care disciplines.5.
To agree a plan of personal development with the Psychology Lead and the post holders line manager.SERVICE AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT1.
To collaborate with other specialist staff in designated area to extend the range of specialist psychological and group interventions available across the area.RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT1.
To engage in research relevant to service priorities as appropriate.2.
To participate in audit and service evaluation activities examining the effectiveness of current service delivery and leading to development of services relevant to client needs.3.
To provide advice, support and consultation to colleagues from other disciplines undertaking research in the area.
Person Specification Qualifications / Registration Essential Doctoral Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent HCPC Registration Desirable Additional training in psychological models Experience and Skills Essential Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Experience of assessment and therapeutic interventions with client group Evidence of interest in working with specified client group Effective team player with good communication with liaison skills Well organised with good administration skills Experience of using Microsoft Outlook and Word for administration and reporting Empathy/engagement skills with the client group Ability to cope with workload pressure/prioritise workload Ability to work independently Self-awareness and emotional resilience Desirable Experience of teaching/training
