Job summary The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Ward.
The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
Main duties of the job The Ward Clerk is responsible to the Service Manager in providing an efficient clerical service across the wards.For accountability and development purposes, the Ward Clerk will be under the direct responsibility of the Service Manager.

Person Specification Qualifications and/or knowledge Essential Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE C Grade or equivalent level RSA Level 1 or equivalent Welsh speaking' (minimum of level 3) Desirable NVQ 2 Admin/Customer Care Experience Essential Previous Experience of office and administrative procedures Desirable Previous NHS experience Aptitude and Abilities Essential Able to use electronic information systems Able to contribute constructively to a team working environment Ability to use own initiative whilst understanding the need to seek advice from senior staff where necessary Able to communicate information clearly and sensitively in person and over the phone Knowledge of data protection and patient confidentiality Desirable Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
