Overview of role Location: Newcastle under Lyme Salary: Dependant upon experience We are seeking a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of heavy vehicle systems and components, hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, and a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Key Accountabilities Perform Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Inspect Vehicles: Examine heavy vehicles for structural issues or damages. Diagnose Problems: Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electronic issues. Repair and Replace Parts: Fix or replace malfunctioning parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. Test Functionality: Ensure repaired parts and systems operate correctly. Consult with Clients: Discuss vehicle issues with clients or operators to understand problems better. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used. Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations. Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest technology and techniques in heavy vehicle repair and maintenance. The Right Person Qualifications Experience: Proven experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic. Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems of vehicles; proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment. Education: Evidence of city & guilds/apprenticeship or other related qualification. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment, and work in various positions. Class1-2 licence: Desirable. Work Environment Safety: Adhere to safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment. Tools and Equipment: Properly manage and maintain tools and equipment.
