Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Technician at our London workshop in Perivale.
The Technician role involves assisting the senior technician and supervisors in the preparation, construction and execution of models and effects in accordance with the given technical specifications.
They will be involved in building animatronics, mechanical rigs, models, miniatures, and props.
Salary range: £30,000-32,000 Experience/Skills Essential Model making Some working knowledge of Workshop processes - machining, welding, moulding, vacuum forming Good knowledge of commonly used material, i.e.
plastics, metals and timber.
Working with 3D printed materials Calm under pressure Flexible team player Able to interpret and work to technical drawings and sketches and understand technical information and specifications Basic understanding of electro-mechanical equipment and devices, wiring circuits, hydraulic principles and equipment, pneumatics, pumping and water systems, wire and pulley systems, gas and flame equipment, etc.
Must have a good understanding of the safety legislation with regard to whatever mechanical, electrical or other project undertaken Desirable Experience in the film, television, or live events industry Degree or certification in a relevant field such as Special Effects, Engineering, or Design Knowledge of lighting equipment/materials and camera equipment Familiar with use of SFX equipment including smoke machines, steam generators, water FX and pumps, gas and flame equipment, air mortars and motorised equipment etc.
Knowledge and working experience in some aspects of physical special effects and model making, e.g.
mechanics, miniatures and Animatronics.
