Care to Join Us?We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Catering Technician.This is a full time role, however we are open to discussing flexible working options.The information below provides more detail about the role and you may also wish to learn a little more about working for South Hampshire College Group by viewing the below video.We offer great benefits including;Pension fund of up to 27.1% per annum.Regular training and development.Pathways to teaching qualifications. Duties:To assist in the ordering and stock control of consumable items and equipment including receiving orders and maintaining the rotation of stockResponsible for the purchase and maintenance of equipment and being the point of contact for maintenance contracts.To generate and organise kit/PPE orders for staff and students and monitoring the renewal of contracts including laundryTo organise the taking of key deposits for lockers and distribution of lockers to studentsRegularly communicate with Health and Safety officer and be responsible for the administrative tasks associated with Health and Safety.
In particular the writing and updating of high-quality risk assessments and completing walk throughs with internal and external Food and Hygiene/FSA/ Health and Safety Officers.To prepare materials and set up equipment for use in practical and commercial sessions. Skills/Experience:To give practical assistance to staff in the department and assist students in a supporting role when practical sessions/commercial activity are in operation.To undertake assessments and the necessary supervision of studentsTo carry out instructions and demonstrations on the proper use of equipment, ensuring that safe working practices are adhered to at all timesTo assist in departmental administrative tasks which could include trips and visits.To maintain good housekeeping standards in the working areas, including cleaning and tidying kitchens and work areas and ensuring all equipment is satisfactorily cleaned and reporting any defects foundTo make occasional purchases and collect consumables which are required for lessonsQualifications:Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C in English & Maths or equivalent.Food Safety QualificationFood Hygiene Qualification Ideal Attributes:Experience in prioritising and organising workload, supporting a teamExperience of cash handlingFood handling experienceUnderstanding of safety requirements in working in Kitchens/ restaurant/classroom?We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
