Job summary An exciting and appealing opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Older Persons' Therapy Service (OPS).
The OPS Therapy Team covers the following areas: Older Person's Acute Wards Older Person's Continuing Care Wards Emergency Department (ED) & Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) Older Person's Assessment Unit This position will rotate between the Older Person's Acute Wards and Continuing Care Wards.
This is a fantastic opportunity where you will gain a solid foundation in core Occupational Therapy skills, including assessment of Occupational Performance through activity analysis, informing your clinical reasoning and decision making.
This role requires a degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC Registration Willing to participate in 7 day working on a rota basis Ability to drive, hold a clean drivers licence and have access to a car for work purposes Part time or full time hours will be considered.
Interview Date : 10/12/2024 Main duties of the job You will be supported to develop specialist skills in frailty, whilst working alongside our highly regarded and innovative Older Person's Team in the hospital.

Effective communication and the ability to work within a team will be essential.
We pride ourselves on our close working links with the multi-disciplinary team and feel integrated working is an essential aspect for the post will play a pivotal role in optimising early recovery through occupational therapy intervention.
University Hospital Dorset works in partnership with health and community providers within the county to enable the Discharge to Assess and Home First principles: You will have the opportunity to support patients within the acute hospital and within their own homes to ensure they receive the right service in the best place for them.
Assessment and education of optimal moving and handling with appropriate equipment provision and assessment of cognition will be intrinsic to this role.
Participation in weekend working is an integral aspect of this post which will provide an opportunity to enhance skills within the Emergency Department and Older Person's Assessment Unit.
This post is currently based from Poole Hospital however services will be relocated to the Bournemouth Site in the future.
