Job summary We are looking for a middle-grade doctor with excellent personal values and commitment to patient care.
You will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team at Chichester ward, helping patients progress in their care pathway towards low secure wards or directly to the community.

The post holder will work directly with experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists and Consultant Multi professional approved clinicians.You will be supported in developing excellent relational security skills and risk assessment and management of patients, the majority of whom have come in contact with the criminal justice system due to their mental health difficulties.
Opportunities will be there to get trained in structured professional judgement tools like HCR-20 and DUNDRUM.
Based on experience, you may also gain exposure to access assessments, writing and giving evidence for Mental Health Tribunals, with a view of preparing for St4 posts in Forensic Psychiatry (if this is a desired career path).
You will be part of a supportive medical peer group.
Close supervision and help will be available at all times.
You will be supported in CPD, audit, and QI projects, and in engaging in projects aligned with the directorates vision and needs.
Main duties of the job Your primary dutieswill include responding to the mental and physical health needs of 15inpatients in a low secure ward.
You will have very close supervision availablefrom a Consultant MPAC and will also be supported by the site GP for the managementof more complex physical health conditions.
You will be expected to do regularmental state examinations of patients under your care and provide reports andfeedback for 4 weekly care review meetings for each patient and also their 6monthly CPA meetings.
You will be expected to take part in a daytime frontlinerota to cover emergency physical and mental health situations on wards wherethe middle-grade clinician is on leave.
You will be expected to take part inweekly doctors meeting and academic meetings.
You will have opportunity to takepart in teaching undergraduate students on placement at Langdon hospital.The role will appeal to individuals who wish to have a challenging but satisfying workload and to be part of an established, highly regarded service.

Registered with Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD Clinical Governance Essential Commitment to involvement in on site programme of clinical governance Desirable Knowledge of evidence based practice, clinical audit and involvement of users and carers in service provision Clinical Skills and Knowledge Essential Excellent clinical skills in interviewing and physical and psychological assessment of patients.
Writing comprehensive, clear medical notes.
Ability to manage crises and act independently.
Ability to manage potentially violent and disturbed patients.
Confidence in assessing and managing physical health problems and emergencies.
Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 Desirable Up to date CPR training.
Ability to apply psychological models to practical situations.
Evidence based knowledge of forensic psychiatry.
Knowledge of clinical risk management.
Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation.
Qualifications Essential MB BS or equivalent GMC registration.
Desirable Membership or Affiliateship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Experience Essential Minimum of 3 years in basic psychiatric training.
Desirable Experience at SHO level or above of working in the field of Forensic Psychiatry Motivation, Practical Arrangements and Physical Essential Ability to organise own learning/CPD Meets professional health requirements Ability to be mobile across a geographical area in a timely manner and in accordance to service need Desirable Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the post.
