Job summary Applications are invited for the post of specialty doctor in dermatology to work with an established team of seven consultants within the dermatology directorate.
The post is for permanent specialty doctor.
Consideration will be given to candidates who wish to pursue a career in dermatology and may wish to apply for trainee posts in future or progress to a consultant-level position through CESR or develop specialist interests as a speciality doctor with appointment as a specialist post.
Main duties of the job Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of dermatology- Clinical as Outpatient clinics with the support of the consultants Direct clinical care covers:- Outpatient clinics Clinical diagnostic work Other patient treatment Multi-disciplinary meetings about direct patient care Administration directly related to patient care referrals, notes etc.
Triaging referrals weekly Supporting professional activities covers:- Continuing professional development through the Royal Colleges Teaching Audit Job planning Appraisal Research Local clinical governance activities.
Education and training:- Clinical supervision of medical trainees.
Participation in departmental business and training meetings.
Taking an active part in clinical governance and audit.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and their clinical director on behalf of the medical director after the interview due to the special interest if applicable of candidate.

The Dermatology Directorate The dermatology service for Teesside operates on a hub and spoke model, with the hub based at JCUH.
The spoke services being at University Hospital of North Tees, University Hospital of Hartlepool, The Friarage at Northallerton and One Life at Middlesbrough.
The Dermatology Outpatient Service is centred on a dedicated purpose-built department which has a suite of consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre for day surgery and facilities for phototherapy, photochemotherapy, patch testing and iontophoresis.
An in-house seminar room provides a library, computer access and projection facilities.
Job description Job responsibilities The post is advertised on ten sessions per week, but consideration would be given to those wishing to work fewer sessions.
There will be opportunity to develop sub-speciality interest according to individual expertise.
Candidates will have opportunities to progress within the department in a SAS role taking on various roles in service development, research or leadership.
There is access to a supportive SAS team within the trust and a SAS tutor along with a CESR SAS lead.

Completed at least two years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) Minimum of 6 months of Dermatology as a postgraduate or shall have equivalent experience and competencies Desirable Has MRCP or equivalent Experience Essential Wide general dermatology and skin cancer experience.
