Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) - Children's IRO Team - Newcastle City Council Do you want to be a champion for children in care? Newcastle City Council are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join their Children's IRO Team as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO).
They are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for children in care and their families, by providing independent oversight and advocacy.
About the RoleAs an IRO, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the rights and well-being of children in care.
You will: Independently review the care plans of children in care, ensuring they are meeting the child's needs and are in their best interests.Chair Care Reviews, bringing together relevant professionals and the child's family to discuss progress, challenges, and future plans.Advocate for the child's voice, ensuring they are listened to and their views are considered in decision-making.Monitor the child's progress, identifying any barriers to their well-being and recommending appropriate actions.Build strong relationships with children in care, their families, and professionals involved in their lives.Keep abreast of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance, ensuring best practice is maintained.Who we're looking for:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker with a strong commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of children in care.You will have: A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)A valid Social Work England registrationSignificant experience working with children in care, including experience in care planning and reviewsA deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to children in careExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individualsStrong advocacy skills and a commitment to ensuring the voices of children are heardIf you are passionate about promoting the well-being of children in care and possess the skills and experience outlined above, please submit your CV We look forward to hearing from you!
