Minimum Experience: 10 years.
Minimum Experience with Contractor: Experience preferred, not essential Professional Qualifications: Member of an Architectural body (MCIAT / ACIAT preferred, not essential) Key Skills: Building Regulations and Planning Legislation/Procedure.
Computer Aided Design Software (AutoCAD/Revit).
General Building Detailing.
Other Requirements: Driving Licence (full and clean).
Main Responsibilities: Production of design output from conception to completion using appropriate design software as directed through project briefing (2D AutoCAD or Revit).
Liaise with and translate standard/proprietary manufacturer's details onto working drawings.
Produce and check Designers Health and Safety Risk Assessments as required for the project using knowledge of CDM and relevant regulations.
When necessary, visit site and carry out level/measured survey to ensure dimensional compatibility between existing and proposed structures.
Prepare Information Release Schedules for issue to the client team assessing time required to complete detailed packages of works against the contractors construction programme.
Undertake project co-ordination (controlling the preparation and timely issue of design data in accordance with QA procedures) and contractors programme.
To produce reports and specifications ensuring the compliance with National/International Standards, Statutory requirements and the project brief.
If Architecturally lead, coordinate regular internal project design team reviews/meetings as identified within the Project Management Plan.
Determine technical content of drawings, (with reference to any legal requirements of the Building Regulations and other statutory bodies).
Decide the format and scope of design data required for project (drawings, schedules, specification, etc.)
along with determining the software package most suitable for undertaking project (AutoCAD or Revit).
Undertaking the role of Principal Designer, or supporting the lead designer / contractor in carrying out this role.
In conjunction with the contractors staff, establish the most efficient and economic method of construction/use of materials within the technical requirements/constraints.
On every project, work closely with other internal and external team members including Engineers/Surveyors to ensure that the design is compliant with specification, project cost constraints, and fully dimensionally coordinated.
Monitor/review project fee structure and determine associated variation costs during the course of the project.
Preparation and issue of design reports for submission to the contractor, reporting in connection with the Project Management Plan.
Prepare Information Release Schedules for issue to the client team assessing time required to complete detailed packages of works against the contractors construction programme.
Check drawings, schedules and specifications for compliance with design requirements and current practice/ standard.
Visit site and report on the technical validity, feasibility or compliance with agreed guidelines of existing, partial or proposed projects.
Supervision of Trainees, Technicians and Architectural Designer as directed by Management.
Check, as necessary, the drawings produced by other Architectural staff and review/appraise construction principles along with any value engineering.
Be a role model to subordinate members of staff and trainees and mentor in acceptable working practices and procedures.
Project Management of the design either for the contractor or on behalf of our company.
Establish the project fee structure for individual projects for management team review and approval.
