The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Primary Layout Engineer to join our team.
This role offers the flexibility of hybrid/remote work, with occasional travel to our Manchester office and client sites as required.
As a Senior Primary Layout Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary layout designs and engineering solutions for electrical substations at varying voltage levels.
Key Responsibilities Develop detailed primary layout designs for substations, ensuring compliance with DNO standards.
Perform busbar calculations and define switchgear specifications for projects.
Work on AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) and GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) projects, including layouts and configurations.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, protection, and control engineers.
Engage with clients to understand their requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
Ensure projects meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards.
Prepare reports and documentation for project submissions.
Essential Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience working with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) at 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV voltages.
Expertise in AIS and GIS switchgear systems.
Strong skills in busbar calculations and specifying switchgear equipment.
Desirable Skills Experience working with high-voltage systems at 275kV and 400kV (advantageous but not mandatory).
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
