Job DescriptionSenior or Principal Hydrologist Location: GlasgowSalary: Circa £45,000 - £57,000 plus packageSummaryA highly professional Environmental Consultancy specialising in all types of Ecology, Hydrology and Environmental work, have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Hydrologist to join their Environmental Water Environment team, located within their Glasgow office (although other locations would be considered for the right candidate).Our successful candidate will come with 5+years' industry experience (or similar demonstratable skills) within the water industry, with technical specialisms in hydrology, hydrogeology and peatland management.
The successful candidate will be required to take a lead role in the delivery of hydrological reports and EIA technical appendices including peatland management plans, private water supply risk assessments and Groundwater Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystem (GWDTE) assessments.
As well as providing the technical input into projects, there is a requirement to mentor junior staff, manage projects, input into the bid and tender writing process and undertake quality assurance.The key skills/attributes required for this Senior Hydrologist role are- 5+ years of relevant industry experience (or similar demonstrable skills).
- A full member of (or working towards) a relevant professional body, e.g.
CIWEM, ICE.
- Demonstrable experience working within the Scottish marketplace within the energy, renewables and linear infrastructure and development sectors, including consultations with SEPA, NatureScot, Scottish Water and other local flood risk authorities.
- Experience working within England and Wales would be advantageous - Experience in peatland management, including reporting, data collection and fieldwork - Previous project management experience relating to hydrology and hydrogeology projects.
- An understanding of the requirements of the planning process (including for EIA, NSIPs and DCOs), with relation to hydrology and hydrogeology.
- A competent user of QGIS.
- CSCS card - A full driving licence suitable for the UK.
The individual must be self-motivated, organised and able to work as part of a team.
