Job summary The Senior Medical Secretary Function Provides: An accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers and internal and external agencies( Local Authority, Third Sector, CAIS) in order to: Provide a safe and efficient patient pathway and provide information and appropriate support to families and carers.
The post holder will ensure the delivery of a comprehensive high quality medical secretarial and administrative service to the consultant, doctor and junior medical team and specialist nursing teams, other health professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for the guidance and direction of the team dealing with appropriate day to day issues to oversee the smooth running of the department and providing support to the line manager.
Main duties of the job The role requires a medical secretary with experience of working on their own initiative at a senior level and is able to offer a comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants and their associated teams.
As a senior medical secretary, you will be the first point of contact for patients, doctors and staff throughout the Health Board.This challenging position requires someone who is a team player, flexible, organised and is able to work well under pressure.
The successful candidate will need to be an experienced typist, qualified to RSA Typing Level III (or equivalent).
This position also requires excellent communication skills, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment and is able to represent the department with due professionalism.This post will be worked over 5 days, Monday - Friday to ensure continuity for the service.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
