The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in assessing, improving, and modernizing the company's through-hole electronics manufacturing processes, including wave soldering, conformal coating, and electrical testing.
The ideal candidate will also be experienced in New Product Introduction (NPI) and phase gate handoffs, ensuring seamless transitions from development to manufacturing.

Responsibilities: Process Improvement : Evaluate and document existing manufacturing processes, particularly focused on through-hole electronics manufacturing, wave soldering, and conformal coating.
Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance production quality, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
Modernization : Lead initiatives to upgrade outdated equipment and processes.
Collaborate with leadership to budget, plan, and implement capital improvement projects for the plant.
New Product Introduction (NPI) : Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development teams to ensure smooth NPI processes and successful phase gate handoffs from product development to full-scale manufacturing.
Ensure manufacturing readiness for new products and facilitate process validation during early production phases.
Talent Assessment & Development : Evaluate the skillsets of current staff, identify training needs, and implement development plans to build a high-performing team capable of meeting operational goals.
Equipment & Process Expertise : Analyze the capabilities of current manufacturing equipment, especially wave soldering, conformal coating machines, and functional test setups.
Work with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and introduce modern technology to improve production efficiency.
Electrical Test & Burn-In : Understand, oversee and work collaboratively with Engineering on electrical testing, functional testing, and burn-in processes to ensure products meet all quality and performance specifications.
Implement improvements in testing and validation to ensure high reliability of the power converters.
Documentation & Compliance : Ensure all manufacturing processes are well-documented and compliant with industry standards, providing detailed work instructions for operators.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all key processes.
Optimization & Metrics : Continuously monitor key production metrics such as yield, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to identify areas for further improvement and drive continuous operational excellence.
Leadership Development : Transition into a leadership role by managing day-to-day operations and becoming the central authority for manufacturing-related decisions.
Health, Safety & Compliance : Lead initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant working environment, meeting industry and regulatory standards.
Education / Experience: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in a manufacturing process engineering role, preferably in electronics manufacturing with expertise in through-hole technology, wave soldering, and conformal coating.
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) , managing phase gate handoffs , and ensuring smooth transitions from product development to manufacturing.
Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes including electrical testing, functional testing, and burn-in processes.
Experience with the modernization of manufacturing facilities, including upgrading equipment and implementing best practices for process optimization.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles; Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Proven track record of driving process improvements and increasing operational efficiency.
Excellent understanding of through-hole soldering techniques, including wave soldering and conformal coating for electronic assemblies.
Strong project management skills with experience managing large, multi-functional improvement projects.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with experience creating detailed documentation and work instructions.
Ability to lead and influence teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Compensation and Benefits: Hours of Work: 38 per week, 8.30 am to 5.30 pm with half hour lunch break from Monday through Thursday and 8.30 am to 12.30 pm Friday Pension: Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme.
