We are currently hiring for a Senior Manager, Collections and Recoveries Strategy In this role you will: • Design, build, adapt and operate an oversight function which ensures Credit Risk policies drive good customer outcomes and are executed as intended.
• Provide risk oversight of first line QA and outcome testing framework and its execution to ensure accurate measurement of customer outcomes.
• Assess current and future risks, including those created through macroeconomic changes, regulatory developments, internal changes to manage the oversight schedule to best protect the bank and its customers.
• Oversight of Credit Risk policies includes Secured and Unsecured acquisition and underwriting, Customers in Financial Difficulty and aspects of managing debit balances upon bereavement.
• Develop the strategy for increasing use of data to determine risk profile across span of oversight accountability.
• Support safe growth into new and existing products • Oversee the effective design and execution of Credit Risk owned controls • Own the delivery of oversight reports for internal and external stakeholders (including the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulatory Authority) • Deliver reporting outcomes into senior stakeholders to ensure understanding of Oversight team findings, tracking of findings to closure and escalation of risks through the bank governance framework.
• Develop an oversight summary covering span of accountability for inclusion in Chief Risk Officer bi-annual return.
• Responsibility for colleague development to enable effective oversight, appraisal of colleague performance and ensuring wellbeing of the team.
• The role holder will be part of an extended management team within Retail Credit Risk, contributing to wider department projects and colleague development.
Required Skills and Experience • Excellent understanding of the UK Regulatory environment governing the end to end lifecyle of retail lending.
• Has an excellent knowledge of the credit life cycle, collections and recoveries practice and understands the market positioning of HSBC products.
• Understands Conduct Risk and how this is managed in practice.
• Experience in a senior assurance / oversight function • Design and operation of risk based control framework enabling effective prioritisation • Able to work in a fast paced environment, designing and delivering targetted oversight focused on addressing specific questions • Experience of providing effective oversight through analytics / MI and presenting into governance forums on progress with strategy / suitability of execution • Experience of managing operational stakeholders and able to prioritise effectively • Holding others to account for their delivery of accountability • Effective report writing • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to deal with multiple stakeholders at any one time.
• The individual should be self motivated, customer focussed with an ability to understand complex problems and with an eye for detail and accuracy.
• Ability to design required data insights (to be fulfilled by others) to deliver effective oversight and in identification of risks and issues.
This role will be based in either Sheffield or Birmingham, Hybrid.
