SEN Teaching Assistant – Stockport Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential?
Teaching Personnel is delighted to partner with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Stockport.
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team in January 2024.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support and to make a meaningful impact on their academic and personal development.
About the Role: Start Date: January 2024 Contract: Full-time (part-time may be considered for the right candidate) Pay Rate: £85–£110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications) Provide targeted one-to-one and group support for students with diverse learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons and resources, ensuring accessibility for all students.
Develop and implement personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies in line with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support students in developing essential life skills, fostering independence, and building self-confidence.
Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued and supported.
Assist with monitoring students' progress and provide detailed feedback to the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
Offer pastoral support during unstructured times, such as break and lunch, helping students navigate social interactions.
What We're Looking For: Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in an educational, care, or community setting.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with complex needs.
The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and encourage positive behaviours.
Excellent organisational and communication skills to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
Knowledge of effective strategies to support SEN students, including sensory integration, visual aids, and behaviour management techniques.
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN is desirable but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.
