We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a dynamic team at a specialist SEN/secondary school based in Derby, working exclusively with Key Stage 4 students with Autism and challenging behaviour.
This rewarding role focuses solely on teaching KS4 students, providing a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities: Teach Key Stage 4 students with Autism and challenging behaviour.
Deliver a KS4 teaching timetable, including GCSE Maths.
Plan, deliver, and assess tailored lessons that cater to the unique needs of SEN students.
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and effective behaviour management strategies.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment to promote student engagement and achievement.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and parents, to support student progress.
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
Track and report on student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary to meet their needs.
Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
A specialism in Maths, with experience delivering GCSE Maths.
Proven experience working with students with Autism and/or challenging behaviour.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Knowledge of SEN strategies and techniques to support learning and development.
A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to teaching.
A valid DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
