We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a dynamic team in a specialist SEN/secondary school based in Derby, catering to Key Stage 3 and 4 students with Autism and challenging behaviour.
This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment, using innovative approaches to meet the individual needs of students and help them achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver, and assess tailored lessons to meet the needs of students with Autism and other special educational needs.
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment to promote engagement and achievement.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and parents, to support student progress.
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors effectively and empathetically.
Track and report on student progress, adapting approaches as necessary to meet their unique needs.
Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience working with students with Autism and/or challenging behavior in a school or specialist setting.
Strong behavior management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
Knowledge of SEN strategies and techniques to support learning and development.
A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to teaching.
A valid DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
