Radio 4 Extra is BBC Radio's digital archive entertainment network broadcasting classic comedy, drama and features.
The Scheduling Co-ordinator sits within the Presentation team, and plays a key role in the network scheduling process, ensuring that the needs of the Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra audiences are met.Main Responsibilities This particular Scheduling Co-ordinator role focuses on Transmission Scheduling and Delivery.
Within this area, Scheduling Co-ordinators are expected to work flexibly across both of the networks we support, however this role will focus primarily on Radio 4 Extra.
The role is responsible for the preparation of the playout schedules, auditioning and scheduling programme audio, and liaising with the broader network team to resolve any issues and ensure the smooth running of the station.
You will be the first line of contact for all queries regarding transmission scheduling, inputting and maintaining information in systems and databases accurately and efficiently, providing reports where required.
You'll co-ordinate the continuous playout schedule, pulling together all content, ensuring correct timings, version control and compliance requirements are met and manage supporting programme material, ensuring that editorial guidelines and station sound requirements are followed.
You will also oversee the supply of standby content or cancel content, as required and provide help to maintain 'off schedule' plans and support to production teams delivering content.
You'll be required to contribute ideas and suggestions to improve processes and planning for scheduling decisions and ensure colleagues in other departments are informed of team priorities, plans and content, as well as escalate or manage any content which has compliance, editorial or legal issues and work with the Schedule Managers or equivalent, to ensure revisions are replaced in a timely fashion.
You will also work with other teams to support and enhance content on other platforms, where required.Are you the right candidate?
Essential: You will need experience of working with radio programme playout systems (eg: dira, OpenMedia) and of working with programme scheduling databases and content management systems (eg: Proteus).
An understanding of BBC Radio's audio technical requirements and non-audio deliverables is important, along with a thorough knowledge of the programme transmission process.
Excellent multi-project time management, planning and prioritisation skills and demonstrable knowledge of the Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra schedules are key.
You will also need proven proof-reading skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
