We are seeking a proven and skilled Sales Engineer to join our team and play a key role in future sales and project delivery.
Responsibilities of the Role As a Sales Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the sales of diesel generators and associated products.
You will be responsible for managing the entire sales process, from initial customer enquiry through to project pricing and supplier negotiations.
The role requires direct interaction with our existing clients, as well as collaboration with electrical and building contractors to ensure the successful completion of sales projects.
You will also work closely with internal teams to assist with pricing remedial works, repairs, and large-scale projects.
Sales and Customer Engagement Identify and generate new sales opportunities for diesel generators and associated power products.
Act as the primary point of contact for existing clients, building strong, long-term relationships to drive repeat business.
Work with local electrical contractors, building contractors, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
Present and promote products and services to customers, including technical specifications and advantages of our solutions.
Project Pricing and Supplier Coordination Manage incoming customer enquiries, providing accurate pricing, project timelines, and solutions.
Obtain quotes from suppliers, compare options, and negotiate the best prices for both clients and the company.
Prepare detailed quotations, proposals, and project plans based on client specifications and requirements.
Assist with the pricing of remedial works, repairs, and upgrades, collaborating with internal teams where necessary.
Collaboration and Internal Support Liaise with internal departments (engineering, operations, and procurement teams) to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery.
Work with technical staff to ensure that project specifications, requirements, and timelines are met.
Provide input on product selection and technical support for ongoing sales and project work.
Administrative and Organisational Duties Keep detailed and up-to-date records of all client interactions, sales activities, quotations, and project statuses in CRM software.
Prepare sales forecasts and reports for management, tracking performance and identifying new business opportunities.
Coordinate follow-ups on leads and quotations, converting enquiries into successful sales.
Manage project documentation, ensuring all details are accurate and timely for customer and supplier communication.
Technical Knowledge and Expertise Provide customers with technical guidance on diesel generators, installations, and associated products.
Stay current with product knowledge, industry trends, and best practices related to diesel generators and power systems.
(Advantageous) Knowledge of plantroom installations and fuel systems is beneficial but not essential.
Qualifications and Experience Experience Previous sales experience, ideally within the construction, electrical, or power generation industries.
Experience with diesel generators or related technical products is a distinct advantage.
Knowledge or experience with plantroom and fuel system installations is beneficial but not required.
Experience in managing customer relationships, pricing projects, and liaising with contractors is essential.
Skills and Qualifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM software.
Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and contractors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve sales and project goals.
Education A relevant technical qualification (e.g., electrical, mechanical engineering, or related field) is desirable but not essential.
