This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced senior compliance lawyer to step into a pivotal role within a prestigious US law firm.
As the Interim European Counsel, Risk & Compliance, you will be a key figure in shaping compliance strategies across the firms European offices, ensuring adherence to the highest regulatory standards.

Reporting to the Director of Office Administration, COLP, and MLRO, you will lead compliance efforts in the London office and support broader European initiatives.
Your role will involve ensuring adherence to SRA standards, leading AML processes, and providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
This position offers the chance to implement best practices and influence the firms approach to compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities Act as the primary compliance advisor for the London office, ensuring adherence to the SRA Standards & Regulations 2019 and other regulatory requirements across Europe.
Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing revision of compliance policies, adapting to changes in the regulatory landscape.Manage AML processes and client due diligence for European matters, providing strategic support to colleagues in Hong Kong and the US, and ensuring a consistent approach to compliance.Oversee the firms insider list process under Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), maintaining compliance across all offices and supporting best practices.Develop and deliver targeted compliance training for lawyers and staff, promoting a culture of compliance, risk awareness, and regulatory excellence.
This role is ideal for a candidate with over 7 years PQE, currently holding a senior-level position within a law firm.
You will have a deep understanding of the SRA regulatory framework, AML regulations, and data protection laws.
Strong communication skills, an analytical approach, and the ability to influence at senior levels are essential.
You should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
