Organization: Pediatric Gastroenterology
Job Summary: Provide, under direct supervision, support for specified research projects; collect, assess, and communicate data/results. Assist in general laboratory operation and inventory.
The Hiremath lab is in search of a dynamic candidate who can excel in our intellectually stimulating and collaborative research environment. Dr. Hiremath, a pediatric gastroenterologist specializing in esophageal diseases, leads our translational research on eosinophilic esophagitis, an allergic inflammation of the esophagus.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support for specific research projects under direct supervision. This will involve collecting, assessing, and communicating data and results related to our ongoing research.
Important skills: Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, Physics or Chemistry.Possess or be willing to obtain training in spectroscopy and multivariate statistical methods.Under supervision, run experiments, assays, and record results.Follow experimental protocols and handle tissue samples per protocol (may include tissue culture, cell culture). Record, compile, interpret, and communicate data/results effectively.Read and follow all equipment manuals.Maintain equipment according to manufacturer and University guidelines.Have strong writing skills and can present data and results well in a laboratory meeting setting.Maintain inventories.Prepare reagents.Clean equipment.Work effectively in a team of interdisciplinary researchers.Core Accountabilities: Organizational Impact: Delivers job responsibilities that impact own job area/team with some guidance.Problem Solving/ Complexity of work: Uses existing procedures, research, and analysis to solve standard job-related problems that may require some judgment.Breadth of Knowledge: Requires subject matter knowledge within a professional area to meet job requirements.Team Interaction: Individually contributes to project/work teams.Core Capabilities: Supporting Colleagues: Develops self and others; builds and maintains relationships; communicates effectively.Delivering Excellent Services: Serves others with compassion; solves complex problems; offers meaningful advice and support.Ensuring High Quality: Performs excellent work; ensures continuous improvement; fulfills safety and regulatory requirements.Managing Resources Effectively: Demonstrates accountability; stewards organizational resources; makes data-driven decisions.Fostering Innovation: Generates new ideas; applies technology; adapts to change.Position Qualifications: Experience Level: Less than 1 year
