An exciting opportunity has arisen within our in-patient Bedded general rehabilitation service in West Hertfordshire.
We are looking for a band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Therapy team and wider MDT working at St Peters Unit, Hemel Hempstead is a service for the rehabilitation of adults presenting with a range of physical dysfunction/or disabilities resulting from injury, illness, surgeryor chronic disease.
The majority of the patients are referred from an acute hospital and some may be referred from the community settings andestablishments.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team, who has the passion and skills for delivering, and maintaining in the team, a high standard of rehabilitation.
You will be working with a multidisciplinary team that includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Healthcare assistants, Pharmacist, Rehabilitation Assistants, Social Workers and Community Care Officers.
You can look forward to an award-winning training and development, excellent benefits including assistance with transport, child care, parking and comprehensive pension and health care position is 35 hours a week, on a permanent contract Main duties of the job To be responsible for a caseload of patients working to agreed treatment objectives and to assist qualified staff in carrying out individual and group treatment.
To provide therapy interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team to patient within an agreed scope of practice.
Successful completion of core competencies assessed by qualified To be responsible for handing over patient progress and any areas of concern following intervention to the relevant member of wardstaff.
The Rehabilitation Assistants' role will focus on improving independence and will include promotion of daily living skills, personal care and maintenance of strength and function.

** Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
NVQ in relevant subject or equivalent skills gained through work experience.
Full Driving license Desirable Willingness to undertake an NVQ or an equivalent qualification.
Keen to gain professional qualification in relevant area.
Experience Essential Previous work experience in a hospital or community rehab setting.
Experience working with older people.
Team working.
Desirable Previous experience as a healthcare or therapy assistant.
Experience working as part of a multi professional team.
Skills and Knowledge Essential Basic knowledge and understanding of the conditions treated in the rehabilitation setting.
Good range of skills in a variety of practical areas Effective written and oral communication skills IT literate Demonstrate competence in teaching practical skills to clients Understanding the principles of professional conduct Desirable oKnowledge of the role and scope of members of the MDT
