Main duties of the job To support Newly Qualified Midwives (NQM) in their preceptorship programme, lead on recruitment of midwifery staff and implement strategies for retaining current staff, supporting current staff in post with professional development.To enable enhanced supernumerary support to newly qualified midwives and return to midwifery practice learners, focusing on retention and pastoral support alongside existing ward managers, practice educators and professional midwifery advocates (PMA)To enable the midwives to achieve the aims and outcomes of the preceptorship programme and professional development plans.To support with the evaluation of the preceptorship programme and adapt accordingly, measuring the effectiveness and impact of preceptorship programmes on retention and recruitment.To work with the midwives to enhance their experience, build confidence and establish a strong foundation for their future career.

We recruit for values and "Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool" Job description Job responsibilities Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership for relevant clinical areas and demonstration of competent and accountable clinical practice.Act as an advisor/educator and role model to less experienced doctors, Midwives, nurses and therapists (MDT) to ensure appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.Act as a support to new/returning to practice staff clinically and emotionally.
Offering clinical teaching, supervision and supportProvide significant input into the international recruitment of midwives clinical and pastoral care.Lead in the selection, recruitment and retention of midwifery staff; promoting principles of fairness and equity throughout.Develop and ensure robust preceptorship plans.
Person Specification RRP Essential Current NMC registration Qualification in Teaching/mentoring.
Demonstrate evidence of ongoing continuous professional development Significant experience in all clinical areas at band 6 or above.
Thorough understanding of equality and diversity and its application to managing self, staff and patients within their own area Evidence of managing/ leading change Desirable Further leadership / management related qualification or training.
Facilitation in training - formal or informal Coaching, debrief and welfare support experience Understanding of the current workforce challenges within maternity/NHS
