Receptionist Pre-Operative Assessment Department

Job summary Pre-operative Assessment is a nurse led clinic which is at the heart of the elective surgical pathway.
Within this role as an experienced receptionist you will be responsible for the management of the daily clinical template working with your line manager and administrative colleagues to ensure all available appointments are correctly utilised.
Within the role you will be liaising and booking appointments via the waiting list teams and any additional patients that the department has been asked to see.
Good communication skills, time management and a good work ethic along with a sense of humour and pride are essential.
Main duties of the job To book all patients appointments on to the patient cenrtre system as they are received from emailed correspondence via telephone conversations or emails with the waiting list teams along with any other areas within the surgical division Making sure all appointments are scheduled equally amongst all the pre-op nurses over the whole working day Be able to present any potential problems to the clinical team for further input where necessary using clear and concise communication skills.
Be able to work as part of a team and be able to pick up other colleagues work if necessary to ensure the departmental deadlines are met, this will include supporting the case note co-ordinators when the need arises About us We hold a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of healthcare and we are one of its largest employers.

Ensure accurate information is input into the Patient Administration system (Patient Centre) to support the recording of a patient episode of care Ensure patients letters and an ICP are available for the health care professionals during the clinics To treat patients with dignity and respect and to handle all sensitive information in a confidential manner Ability to communicate with patients and extract information in a polite and professional manner Assist in the preparation of the reception area by ensuring that it is a clean and welcoming experience for patient At the end of each day, ensure the reception area is left clean and organised ready for the following day Person Specification education and Qualifications Essential Good general education in English (GCSE or equivalent Desirable IT/Computer skills for example PAS/Patient Centre or equivalent Knowledge Essential Basic Computer /IT skills Excellent Communication Skills Problem Solving Good Telephone Manner Desirable Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures Knowledge of medical terminology Experience Essential Previous experience of working in an administrative role Experience of team working and with the general public Desirable Previous NHS/Hospital Experience Experience of PAS/Patient Centre or Equivalent Skills Essential Excellent organisational Skills Ability to prioritise workloads Ability to use initiative work related circumstances Essential Ability to work flexibly and be adaptable to change
