Working within our Marine team you will be responsible for the safe maintenance and operation of all mechanical machinery, electrical equipment and hydraulic systems on the vessel.
Providing technical advice and support to the Master to ensure safe operations.
Being responsible in the completion of all relevant logbooks, record books, technical records and documentation, ensuring that these are maintained correctly and kept up to date is imperative.
You will also ensure clear, positive communication and understanding is maintained with the shore-based Superintendent, on all matters technical This position is based on a shift pattern of week on week off (days and nights) Skills and Qualifications - Minimum STCW Certificate 111/2 Chief Engineer Motor < 6,000KW near-coastal - Minimum of 3 years' service as 2nd Engineer - Good working knowledge of the ISM code, Health & Safety Legislation and MARPOL - Excellent maintenance and problem-solving skills - Previous experience of working on small vessels - Computer literate and able to work PM systems and other programmes with training - Physically able to carry out routine maintenance tasks - Experience of hydraulic and electrical engineering (desirable) - Working knowledge of tugs and the systems commonly found onboard (desirable) - STCW Certificate 111/2 Chief Engineer Motor Unlimited (desirable) Shoreside accommodation can be provided if required when on rota Benefits: - 5 weeks annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata) - Generous contributory pension scheme - Discretionary annual bonus scheme - Private Health Care - Life assurance - Employee assistance programme - 3rd party discounts - Cycle to work scheme - Benefits and reward platform - Free Parking - Employee volunteering scheme All offers of employment are subject to us obtaining satisfactory references (covering all education, training, employment and unemployment in the preceding 5 years) and there will be a pre-employment medical including a Drug and Alcohol test.
