What sort of work? Right now, our highly regarded Agricultural team is looking for a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to join their existing PSL team. This role will have a real focus on facilitating effective knowledge sharing to enable the Agriculture team to remain at the forefront of law and practice.
The work of the PSL team includes:
Facilitating the provision of a learning and development programme and schedule for Agriculture which encompasses black letter law training, knowledge sharing sessions and development sessions. Providing support to Agriculture lawyers and to rural surveyors assisting with queries that arise on transactions or client matters. Providing and maintaining quality documentation and precedents for use by lawyers and surveyors in Agriculture and preparing bespoke precedents for particular Estates and other clients. Writing articles and encourage and facilitate production of articles by lawyers. Providing training to the Agriculture team and externally to clients. Why this team? This is the largest agriculture team in the Country with over twenty lawyers serving estates, farms, rural businesses, and public sector clients across England and Wales.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and will thrive in our culture. The role could be based from our Exeter, Bristol or Cheltenham offices and would ideally be offered on a part-time basis (circa 2 days per week). The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive drafting skills and 5+ years PQE as a lawyer within the Agriculture sector at a top 100 firm. May or may not have worked as a PSL in another firm. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the skills required for the role and a clear affinity with knowledge management and learning and development. Excellent legal research skills with experience of legal databases (LexisLibrary, Practical Law, Westlaw). Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.) and using data management systems. Other skills required include:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team and to effectively communicate with all levels across the Firm. Excellent drafting and technical skills. Good presentation skills. Must be articulate in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, style and language for the recipient. Must be self-motivated, flexible and successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions. Meet scheduled deadlines. Commercially aware and client focused.
