We have been engaged by a leading independent risk management consultancy firm to appoint a Principal Consultant (HSE Management).
Our client provides risk management solutions for developers, owner operators and technology providers across the energy transition space (renewable energy, transmission, decarbonisation).
You will join a dynamic team and play a lead role in extending their capability into occupational safety, developing HSE management systems for a wide range of energy transition projects for highly prestigious clients.
Role Lead on the development of an HSE management capability, supporting organisations across the energy transition, including onshore/offshore wind, transmission, hydrogen, CCUS, and battery storage.
Provide practical and pragmatic advice and work-place reviews and audits, ensuring that the controls established for clients to manage their risks ALARP are effective from an occupational/personal safety perspective and optimised from a business perspective.
Build and lead a strong in-house HSE Management capability.
Support the implementation (leading where appropriate) of streamlined and efficient processes and systems to allow both clients and the company work effectively and maintain a sharp external focus.
Support recruitment activities to help grow the team on a sustainable basis.
Support key tasks, activities or initiatives associated with the initial establishment and ongoing growth of a new business.
Manage, coach and mentor individuals within the team as the company expands.
Adopt a highly flexible and collaborative approach to help us meet the challenges of building and growing a new and profitable business.
Requirements Degree or recognised qualification in HSE management (e.g.
NEBOSH diploma) Experience in the development and implementation of proportionate and pragmatic HSE management systems and safety improvement initiatives.
Mature understanding of UK Health & Safety (legislative) requirements and landscape.
Experience in the development and implementation of proportionate and pragmatic HSE management systems and safety improvement initiatives.
Experience working in the field undertaking health and safety audits (i.e.
UK legal compliance, ISO 45001 audits) and be comfortable working directly with clients on site.
Experience in interpreting industry data to make practical and pragmatic recommendations for improvements in HSE performance.
Experience in the integration of system and personal safety in the context of more mature risk management environments working within specific regulations (e.g.
COMAH, Safety Case, CDM 2015) Aptitude and personality to lead multidisciplinary teams and wider project stakeholders (designers, developers, investors and regulators) through difficult risk management decisions on complex engineering projects.
Experience in delivery of training, coaching and mentoring.
