Job summary The Bridges Medical Practice is looking for a Practice Nurse to work full time or 2 part time candidates.
Ideally we would like someone with Chronic Disease skills but will consider training the right candidate.
We are a busy practice with over 16000 patients and a friendly, supportive team based across 2 sites in Weymouth.As well as Practice Nurses our Nursing team also comprises of HCAs, Phlebotomists and a General Practice Assistant.
We also work closely with the Primary Care Network's respiratory and diabetes teams.There is free parking onsite, a cycle to work scheme and staff are eligible for the NHS pension.We are a supportive team who are constantly striving to improve our services for patients.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a Practice Nurse who is a team player, and committed to Primary Care.
We provide a range of services to patients including: immunisations and vaccinations, wound care, cervical smears, chronic disease management, ECGs, removal of sutures, phlebotomy, health checks, travel and smoke stop.
Our Nurses also assist GPs with minor ops and fitting implants and coils.Our Nurses hold their own clinics working across both sites, seeing a mix of patients.There is the opportunity to lead in a specific area of interest.

The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.Job Responsibilities:Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs.
Such tasks may include : Removal of Sutures Urinalysis Blood pressure measurements Routine immunisations and vaccinations Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil / implant fittings Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines, including compression bandaging Take ECGs Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration and emergency equipment Administer childhood immunisations according to current guidelines Perform annual diabetes, asthma, COPD reviews Cervical cytology High vaginal swabs Give patients travel advice and administer relevant vaccinations Able to recognise and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients and referral on as appropriate Able to document consultations according to NMC guidelines Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral.
Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of abuseAssist / advise team members when required including supervising junior staff and trainees Other tasks including: Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Maintaining Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
