Job summary We are looking for a Nurse/Optometrist or Ophthalmologist Injector to provide ongoing professional and clinical leadership to the Ophthalmic team and deliver evidence based care as part of their role to the wider multidisciplinary team, for 6 months to cover sick leave.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and procedures for which they are competent to practice without direct supervision.
To work with the Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide knowledge and skills to the rest of the team and participate in associated management activities.
To work as a member of the ophthalmic team under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist to perform nurse led clinics within their competency.
The post holder will act as leader in the ophthalmic outpatients team and be professionally accountable for the standard of care in that department.
The post holder will be actively involved in the nurse led team providing intravitreal injections to patients.
To provide Ophthalmic advice, clinical education and Nursing development within the department, within a clinical Governance Framework.

More detail about the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Ophthalmic Injector to join our growing Nurse led injection service.
The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Ophthalmic Team is looking to recruit a Nurse, Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to join a team of highly enthusiastic and motivated professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality Ophthalmic care to the population of North Devon.
Hours are negotiable but we have part and full time hours available due to expansion of the service into the community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical expertise to the Ophthalmic Team, and associated teams within the hospital and community settings.
You will require good organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with integrated care partners, as a member of a team.
Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Injector is essential.
You will be supported by the Northern Devon Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialists and Consultant Team.
You will need to be able to work in an autonomous way and facilitate effective communication between team members.
This is a progressive multidisciplinary team with opportunities to developing existing skills and to learn new ones.
Working Pattern: hours per week.
