Configuration Management Specialist Objectives: We are seeking a seasoned specialist with extensive expertise in the design, implementation, operational support, governance, and continuous improvement of end-to-end Configuration Management.
This role is crucial for ensuring that Configuration Management operates efficiently and in compliance within the Service, Asset, and Configuration Management (SACM) domain and CMOM framework.
What you will do: Develop and Maintain Documentation: Support creation, and ongoing revision, of the Configuration Management Standard and Configuration Management Plan.
Ensure compliance with all risk, data and overarching governance requirements and support identification and engagement of relevant stakeholders.
Conduct Application Discovery: Support service discovery activities to ensure all Configuration Items (CIs) and services in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) are accurately mapped, correctly related, and have clearly defined ownership.
Manage Configuration Item Types: Identify and support the development of new CI types and data source integration solutions, enhancing the overall Configuration Management framework.
Implement Verification and Audits: Lead the development, implementation, and execution of verification processes, audits, controls, attestations, metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to address data accuracy, reconciliation, normalization, duplication and coverage challenges.
Access Control and Security: Support the identification, definition and implementation process for Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
Support Data Issue Resolution: Assist in identifying and implementing corrective actions necessary to resolve data-related issues effectively.
Document Processes and Procedures: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all related processes and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency.
Audit and Review : Support definition, scope, frequency and implementation of CMDB audits to ensure compliance.
Create Training Materials: Develop and deliver training materials and sessions to enhance team understanding and compliance with Configuration Management practices.
Participate in Meetings: Attend relevant meetings and provide supporting documentation for the Configuration Control Board to facilitate informed decision-making and process improvement.
Provide First-Line Support: Act as the primary point of contact for Configuration Management, offering support to address inquiries and issues.
Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate with all stakeholders and support teams to gather requirements and ensure successful delivery of Configuration Management activities.
What youll bring: Extensive Experience in Configuration Management: Over 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, support, and enhancement of Configuration Management activities at scale.
ServiceNow Proficiency: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow, specifically in managing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
Comprehensive IT Knowledge: Strong understanding of complex enterprise IT technologies, including servers, databases, networks, storage solutions, clusters, and both private and public virtualization.
IT Service Management Expertise: At least 5 years of ITSM experience, particularly in environments where the CMDB integrates with Change, Incident and related ITSM processes.
ITIL Framework Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL principles, with ITIL v4 certification highly preferred but not mandatory.
CMDB Concepts and Governance: In-depth understanding of CMDB concepts, data modelling and hierarchy, and governance principles to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong data analytical abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving, enabling effective resolution of data-related challenges.
Data-Driven Performance Analysis: Strong skills in the development, implementation and execution of supporting dashboards, controls, metrics, KPIs and reporting (preferably, but not exclusively, in the ServiceNow platform).
Proficient in MS Office Suite: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to support documentation and reporting needs.
Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Additional Skills and Experience: Certifications: ServiceNow Certified Configure the CMDB and\or CMDB Health (preferred).
Asset Management Expertise: Experience in Asset Management and/or Hardware Asset Management (Pro), and how they interconnect with Configuration Management within ServiceNow is highly desirable.
Software Asset Management Proficiency: Experience in Software Asset Management, particularly with Snow Software, is highly advantageous.
Specific experience and skills with Snow Integration Manager, Snow License Manager, and Snow Inventory will be considered a strong asset.
This is a hybrid working position and would require ad-hoc travel to either London or Glasgow.
