Network Engineer

Insight Global is looking for a Network Engineer to join a large financial services organisation for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity located in London, onsite 4 days a week onsite.
The chosen candidate will be joining the core engineering line of business but more specifically the Network Engineering Perimeter team.
The Network Engineering Perimeter team is responsible for managing the external connectivity to clients, brokers, vendors, and exchanges globally.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for owning the production network project implementation and work with the incident team to provide direction for project implementation.
As such, the chosen candidate will spend their 80% of their role on project implementation, such as greenfield deployment for new zones across the firm, lifecycle management, modernization/upgrading, replacing end of life equipment, changing environments to be inline with new network designs that have been pulled together and uplift the rest of the plan to keep it in-sync.
The other 20% of the role will be focused on the actual project management and procurement of the project being implemented.
Therefore, strong written and verbal communication skills are critical for the success of this role as well as the ability to work with global network engineering teams.
Must haves: Experience as a Network Engineer; designing, engineering, and implementing networking technologies within a large enterprise environment In-depth knowledge of perimeter networks/DMZ environments, such as Multicast, BGP, and external connectivity Experience with network security and firewalls, specifically Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco or Fortinet Experience with MPLS deployment on Layer 2 and 3 Experience with NAT and VPN In-depth knowledge of WAN/LAN topologies and protocols, networking technologies.
(Ethernet, TCP/IP, BGP, Multicast, UCP, OSPF, PIM, MPLS) Strong experience with Cisco such as routers (ASR/ISR), NCS product lines and Nexus Possess a CCNP certification or above Proven project implementation abilities on a variety of network related projects Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience delivering out of hours change work.
Plusses: Background in Financial services environment Good appreciation of Network Security architectures, models and methodologies, Authentication schemes, encryption techniques and standards – this would be applicable for a VP level position Experience of application performance optimisation and troubleshooting through packet level analysis Experience managing, configuring and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure and OCI) Software scripting and development experience, e.g.
Automation & accessing web-based services via API and using GitLab and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) for cloud deployments
