Role – Network Architect Industry – Telco Location – Reading Employment Type – Perm Working Model – Hybrid 2 days a week on site Salary - £70,000 - £80,000 The Network Architect will contribute to the design and strategy of the Network Infrastructure working within the Networks function of the CTO office.
The role will have accountability for design approach, technical solution design & documentation, on network infrastructure and network product design.
Deep knowledge of Network Engineering/Architecture and a demonstratable career background in Telco/Service Provider.
Essential Experience • 10+ years working in a telecommunications carrier or network service provider • Subject matter expert: next generation routing and optical networking across core, distribution and access technologies, subscriber management (Juniper BNG) & associated technologies (RADIUS, DHCP, etc) • Advanced understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), and IPv6, CGNAT, MPLS, BGP-LU / Seamless etc • Deep understanding of ISP network architecture, network protocols and technologies, adept at detailed analytics and problem solving.
• Experience with • Service Provider IP core & MPLS (pref Juniper / Nokia) • Monitoring, alarm and event management Day to day experience • Contributing to the network infrastructure design and strategy • Analysing network technologies and making recommendations to influence technical direction.
• Reviewing, maintaining, and improving network standards to ensure they continue to meet best practice guidelines and are fully documented.
• Technical design and high level / low level documentation across core, distribution and access including optical network • Engineering build and operational support, providing hands-on expertise and excellent documentation • Design and documentation for complex networks, including system components to support the current, transformation and future needs • Collaborating to optimise network and network systems for resilience, performance, security and scalability • Engaging with the systems and project teams, to ensure solutions are functional and tested End to End, with documented dependencies.
• Interface with BSS/OSS Systems development teams to enable the orchestration and integration of the Network OSS platform with vendor OSS and other network systems (including Network OLT, BNG, RADIUS, DHCP, etc)
