We're looking for an IT Broadcast Graphics - Industrial Placement to help us make a difference to our planet.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year in Industry placement, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us.

As our IT Broadcast Graphics - Industrial Placement 2024, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home.
This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week.

This role is within our Broadcast Graphics DevOps team.
We develop, configure and support the broadcast graphics software used by the Met Office and our media customers - including ITV, STV, and Channel 5.
You will probably have already seen it in action on TV weather broadcasts and you will be a key member of this team.
Job Purpose Our software is an exciting, high-profile product and the results of your work will be used widely, helping to make an important, positive difference to real people.
As our IT Broadcast Graphics - Industrial Placement, your key responsibilities will be: Developing applications to support the broadcast graphics software Supporting internal and external customers to troubleshoot problems with the broadcast graphics software Keeping documentation up to date Testing the integrity of the broadcast graphics software and supporting applications Exploring new capabilities We are a DevOps team, so you will get experience in both software development and support work.
The placement would be geared more towards a software development role, but there will be plenty of opportunity to get involved in the customer support side of things too.

sandwich course).
Possess knowledge of at least one programming language, ideally Python.
Keen interest in IT and keeps up to date with current and future IT developments (we keep evolving).
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Can plan and organise work using your own initiative (we live and breathe it).
Demonstrates evidence of good verbal and written communication skills (we're better together).
