This is an exciting post for someone with Medical secretarial experience or Administration experience within UHNM looking for exposure to supervisory experience and to learn new skills, therefore previous experience of working within a Medical Secretary environment would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be given on all aspects of this varied role.
Main duties of the job The post holder is required to provide comprehensive secretarial, waiting list management and administrative support to medical and nursing staff within the Urology team.
The post holder will assist medical and nursing colleagues in the organisation of the specialty team workload, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients/carers.
The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of the administration team as well as ensuring compliance with the Patient Access Policy and Divisional requirements in terms of inpatient waiting list management.
The post holder will have skills in all areas of administrative functions to enable them to support the patient pathway.
The post holder will supervise the specialty secretarial team in terms of day to day personal issues annual leave requirements and also keeping accurate records.
The post holder will coordinate the day to day workload of the specialty team within the department, addressing any issues when they arise.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will also be responsible for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement and acquired knowledge to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly.
The post holder will need to ensure that systems are in place to deliver a high standard of communication to build and maintain good working relationships.
There is a requirement to exchange information with patients and carers, requiring tact and diplomacy.
There is also a requirement to communicate complicated information to other departments and external contacts.
The post holder will plan and organise own time.
The job will involve job prioritisation of work for others which will involve resolving conflicting diary appointments and schedules.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate utilisation of theatre lists and ensure effective management of waiting lists, including compliance with the Patient Access Policy to ensure waiting time standards are achieved, taking into account application of national RTT rules.
