Job summary Applications are invited for a fixed term locum appointment in Renal and Pancreas Transplant Surgery commencing early in 2025.
This post is based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
The Department of Renal and Pancreas Transplantation is the largest unit in the country and is looking to appoint a locum consultant to join our team to cover for a sabbatical.
The post will focus on delivering pancreatic and renal (both live and deceased) transplantation, vascular access surgery, and provide input to the organ retrieval (NORS) service.
There will be an opportunity to shape the post around clinical interests to aid in excellence in service delivery and to support career development.Manchester Royal Infirmary provides kidney and pancreas transplantation, encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) surgery and islet transplantation.In addition, there is a large service of General and endocrine surgery and we are also part of the National Organ Retrieval Service.
Our transplant programme cares for both adults and children.
The department has 10 consultants and 15 middle grades and is part of the Urology, Renal and Transplant (URT) Clinical Service Unit (CSU).
This appointment offers an excellent opportunity for candidates to contribute to the service, including consultant on calls, with scheduled emergency lists and elective opportunities, all with ample mentorship and support within a collegiate environment, with an opportunity to develop skills.

We are recruiting to the position of Locum Consultant Transplant Surgeon to join our team of clinicians for twelve months.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly and growing kidney transplant unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed consultant colleague who will work effectively within the team and contribute to the further development of the unit.
The appointee will join the other nine Consultant Surgeons in a joint multidisciplinary, multi-professional Transplant team at Manchester University Hospital Foundation Trust.
A surgical subspecialty interest of paediatric renal transplantation and/or endocrine surgery would be welcome but not essential.
